Major Update: 1.70



Hello, this is Frone.
We've been working for a long time to bring you a new version of Sugar Overkill: Arena!
I'll be going over the new content and changes in this post. The patch is available to download for free on the itch.io page!
Note that the game is still in beta and far from completion.
 

New content:
3 new contracts!

1) Survival: Rescue human survivors from the candy-mutants of Bad Dream Land.
2) Ascension: Ascend the gigantic Fridge Jail to free the boss and have a legendary fight.
3) Scavenge: Go deeper and explore the Sugar Mine to retrieve relics and treasures.

A newcomer to the last pub in the world:
The Mysterious Candy Hunter has entered the bar. He sells trophies depending on the monsters you've slain.
We'll keep adding trophies to his list of rewards.

A bunch of new cocktails:
Cocktails have been revamped and some new cocktails are offered by our favorite barista.

Changes:
The UI has been redone pretty much entirely. From the HUD while in game to the pause menu, we have added useful informations and reworked the positioning and layout of the visual objects of the user interface. Everything related to GUI is unfinished and subject to change. The final version of the game should have the best UI.

Character's appearance:
We've updated the visuals of the playable characters and tweaked the positioning of the gun as well as their height.

Difficulty balance:
We've made a ton of changes to the overall difficulty of the game. We think that the difficulty curve should be smoother and less brutal to new players. 

Hero changes:
- The Stomper has seen some changes. The Sugar Overkill effect is now:
Gain a temporary immunity. Lose all of your shields and gain 1 damage for each. At the end of your immunity, gain 1 shield.
The older ultimate was too defensive and it seemed to me that it wasn't really true to the spirit of the game of the character so i changed it to this more aggressive alternative. You can now upgrade your damage by being smart about your shields and stomping. A lot of cocktails have been added to support this "shield" archetype that the stomper is pushing.
- Sgt Phlasma is slightly tweaked. Now her gun's bubbles will gradually slow down to make it easier to jump on them even when you have a lot of range. The hitbox of the bubbles have also been updated to match the visuals correctly.
- O'nail: There has been some slight tweaks to the way his portal trap works. His Sugar Overkill was a bit too overtuned so it's a bit less powerful now but still a great tool. The sugar overkill itself hasn't really change, it's the fortune teller's effects that have been tweaked for O'nail.

Known bugs: 

- After upgrading to the fortune teller, some of the Sugar Paladin's animations are not playing.
- The camera at the start of the tutorial isn't correctly functionning.

There's a lot of bug/crash fixes done as well but please do screenshot and show us your crash reports.
In the meantime, I hope you will have fun playing this new SO:A patch!

Windows Defender won't let me run the game, it says it's infected with Trojan:Win32/Spursint.F!cl :-(

Ha sorry it's the first time I hear this issue. I assure you there is no malware in the files.
